Jimma Airport guide

Jimma Airport (IATA: JIM, ICAO: HAJM), also known as Aba Segud Airport or Aba Jifar Airport, serves Jimma in the Oromia Region of southwestern Ethiopia. It lies about 2.5 kilometres southwest of the city and sits at an elevation of 1,703 metres above sea level.

The airport has a single asphalt runway, 13/31, measuring 3,300 metres by 50 metres, long enough for Boeing 737 jetliners. Addis Fortune reports it is one of the oldest airports in Ethiopia, built in 1961 with an original two-kilometre airstrip that could take Fokker 50 aircraft. An upgrade costing 250 million birr, which included a new passenger terminal able to serve up to 236 passengers at once, was scheduled for inauguration by Ethiopian Airports Enterprise on 16 May 2015.

The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority owns the airport and Ethiopian Airports Enterprise operates it. Ethiopian Airlines is the main carrier, with flights to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and Dembidolo. Travellers should check with the airline for current schedules before booking.
