Sohag International Airport sits 24 kilometres south of Sohag city in Upper Egypt, serving the Sohag Governorate and surrounding region. Opened in May 2010 at a cost of US$80 million, it was the fifth international airport in Upper Egypt. The terminal building is modelled on an Ancient Egyptian temple and can handle up to 3.5 million passengers annually.

The airport's route network focuses heavily on Gulf destinations. Air Cairo operates the widest coverage with flights to Saudi cities including Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dammam, as well as Kuwait. Air Arabia connects Sohag to Sharjah, and EgyptAir operates domestic services to Cairo. Five carriers in total serve the airport.

The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority formally designated the airport international in November 2024 following upgrades to navigation aids and safety systems in line with ICAO standards. The single runway handles Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft, with an apron capacity of six aircraft expandable to fourteen.
