Asyut International Airport guide

Asyut International Airport, also written Assiut Airport, serves the Upper Egypt city of Asyut on the west bank of the Nile. The ICAO code is HEAT and the field sits at an elevation of 235 metres.

The airport began operating in 1974. Its single asphalt runway, designated 13/31, is 3,019 metres long, long enough for wide-body aircraft. A renovated passenger terminal is described in travel guides as able to handle more than a million passengers a year, though the building itself is small.

EgyptAir connects Asyut with Cairo. Air Cairo flies to several Saudi cities, including Jeddah, Medina and Riyadh, and to Kuwait City. Flynas serves Jeddah and Riyadh, Jazeera Airways flies to Kuwait City, and Air Arabia runs a seasonal service to Abu Dhabi. Much of the traffic is Egyptian workers and pilgrims travelling to the Gulf.
