Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup sits on the island of Amager, 8 km south of the city centre. It opened on 20 April 1925 and has grown into the largest airport in the Nordic countries. Three runways handle around 240,000 aircraft movements per year, and the airport served 29.9 million passengers in 2024 — a 3.1% increase on the prior year.

The airport is a major hub for SAS, which designated Copenhagen its global hub in 2024. SAS, Norwegian, and Ryanair together account for 58% of all passenger traffic. Two check-in terminals serve all airlines, with shared airside piers labelled A through F. Pier F — also known as CPH Go — is dedicated to low-cost carriers including Ryanair and EasyJet.

The airport is directly connected to central Copenhagen by the M2 metro line, with trains running every four to six minutes and a city centre journey of around 15 minutes. Trains also call at the airport station en route between Copenhagen and Swedish cities including Malmö and Stockholm via the Øresund Bridge.
