Norden-Norddeich Airport Guide
Norden-Norddeich Airfield (ICAO EDWS) is a Sonderlandeplatz, a special-use airfield, on the North Sea coast of Lower Saxony. It lies about 4 km north of the town of Norden and 2.5 km east of the Norddeich ferry district, at 1 m above sea level. The airfield is private and has no commercial terminal.
It has one asphalt runway, 16/34, which measures 720 m by 20 m. Approval covers motor aircraft up to 2,000 kg, ultralight aircraft and helicopters up to 5,700 kg. A flying club keeps two aircraft in a hangar on the east side.
FLN Frisia Luftverkehr, based in Norddeich, uses the field for flights to the East Frisian islands, flown with Britten-Norman Islanders. Scheduled flights to Juist ended on 1 March 2025 after passenger numbers fell as express ferries took over. FLN kept the Norddeich site open, mainly for helicopter traffic, including flights serving offshore wind farms.
