Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) opened on 31 October 2020, replacing the former Tegel, Schönefeld, and Tempelhof airports to consolidate all air traffic for the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region at a single site. Located 18 kilometres southeast of Berlin city centre in Schönefeld, Brandenburg, it is the third largest airport in Germany by passenger volume.

The airport is operated by Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, a company jointly owned by the states of Berlin and Brandenburg and the federal government. In 2024, BER handled 25.5 million passengers and approximately 192,000 aircraft movements. It serves over 130 destinations worldwide.

BER sits between its two parallel runways in a midfield configuration, with Terminal 1 connected directly to an underground railway station. easyJet, Ryanair, and the Lufthansa Group are among the largest carriers by passenger volume. The airport is well served by S-Bahn and regional rail, with direct trains reaching Berlin city centre in around 30 minutes.
