Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport guide

Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, commonly called Guanacaste Airport, sits in Costa Rica's northwest, on the Nicoya Peninsula's Pacific side. It reopened as an international airport in October 1995, giving travelers a direct route to the region's beach towns without the drive from San José. The Government of Costa Rica owns the facility; Coriport S.A. operates it under a 20-year concession.

The single terminal building, rebuilt in 2012 and expanded again in 2017, covers 23,000 square metres. Passenger traffic reached 1.92 million in 2024, up 16 percent from the year before, with 27,643 aircraft movements over the same period. One runway, 2,750 metres long, handles the wide-body jets that fly long-haul routes from North America.

The flight schedule is highly seasonal: most US and Canadian carriers add frequencies and routes during the December-to-April dry season, when Guanacaste's beaches see their heaviest tourist demand. Delta, American, United and JetBlue anchor the US network; Air Canada and WestJet cover Canada; Edelweiss Air runs a seasonal Zurich service, the airport's only scheduled link to Europe.
