Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport guide

Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport opened on 12 August 2021, when all flights moved over from Qingdao Liuting International Airport. It stands in Jiaozhou, on the western shore of Jiaozhou Bay, about 39 kilometres from central Qingdao and 11 kilometres from the centre of Jiaozhou.

The airport handled 26.9 million passengers and 192,823 aircraft movements in 2025, a rise of 2.7 percent in passengers on the year before. It was designed for 35 million passengers, 500,000 tonnes of cargo and mail, and 300,000 aircraft movements a year. Two parallel runways, each 3,600 metres long, give it 4F rating, which allows the largest airliners to land. Qingdao Airlines and Shandong Airlines base aircraft here, and Korean and Japanese routes make it a regional gateway to Northeast Asia.

The single terminal building covers about 478,000 square metres and uses a starfish layout with five airside concourses. Qingdao Metro Line 8 links the airport to Qingdao North railway station, and Qingdao Airport railway station on the Jinan-Qingdao high-speed line serves Weifang, Yantai, Linyi and Rizhao. The S62 Expressway connects the airport to the city road network.
