Songyuan Chaganhu Airport guide

Songyuan Chaganhu Airport serves Songyuan in northwestern Jilin Province. It sits in Qian Gorlos Mongol Autonomous County, about 30 km from the city centre and 27 km from the Chagan Lake nature reserve. The central government approved the project in September 2014, and total investment came to 1.15 billion yuan.

The airport opened on 29 October 2017 with an Air China flight to Beijing. It has one runway, 04/22, which is 2,500 m long and 45 m wide and rated 4C. The terminal covers about 4,600 square metres, and the apron has five aircraft stands. The design target was 400,000 passengers and 2,000 tonnes of cargo a year by 2020.

Scheduled service is thin. In the winter-spring 2025 season two routes ran: China United Airlines to Beijing Daxing and Spring Airlines to Shanghai Pudong. The airport handled 162,667 passengers in 2024.
