Baotou Donghe International Airport guide

Baotou Donghe International Airport serves Baotou, the largest industrial city in Inner Mongolia, from a site in Donghe District on the eastern side of the urban area. Its history goes back to 1934, when the Eurasian Air Mail Company opened a field here for its Beijing and Lanzhou mail route. The airport was renamed Baotou Donghe International Airport in October 2024.

The airport is run by the Baotou branch of the Inner Mongolia Civil Aviation Airport Group. A single 2,800-metre asphalt runway, 13/31, is equipped with instrument landing systems at both ends. The older terminal opened in 1999 and was renovated in 2018. A second terminal opened on 29 December 2014 and handles domestic flights, with eight jet bridges and capacity for about 3 million passengers a year.

Traffic is almost entirely domestic, with scheduled flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other Chinese cities. International service is limited to seasonal flights to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.
