St. John's International Airport sits 5.6 km northwest of downtown St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador. Originally opened as Torbay Airport by the Royal Canadian Air Force in December 1941, it transitioned to civilian operation and is now managed by the St. John's International Airport Authority.

The airport serves around 1.4 million passengers annually with two runways handling domestic routes across Canada and a small number of international services including seasonal transatlantic flights to London Gatwick and leisure routes to Florida. Air Canada, WestJet, and Porter Airlines together account for the bulk of seat capacity, with PAL Airlines and Flair Airlines offering additional domestic connectivity.

A $50 million terminal renovation completed in 2002 modernized the single-terminal facility. Ongoing airfield rehabilitation and expansion works are designed to accommodate up to 2 million annual passengers as traffic recovers toward and beyond pre-pandemic levels.
