Narrandera Airport guide

Narrandera Airport, also called Narrandera-Leeton Airport, sits about 5 kilometres from Narrandera township in the Riverina region of New South Wales. It lies between Narrandera and Leeton and serves both towns. The airport carries the IATA code NRA and the ICAO code YNAR.

Regional Express (Rex) runs daily return flights to Sydney and Griffith. Flight times come from Rex directly, and the council advises checking the timetable before travel. A local news report in late 2022 noted rising Rex passenger numbers, and Rex described the Sydney to Narrandera/Leeton to Griffith route as one of its most profitable.

The airfield began as a wartime aerodrome. The RAAF acquired it in 1940 for No. 8 Elementary Flying Training School. Narrandera Shire Council now owns it. It has two runways: 14/32 is asphalt and 1,616 metres long, and 05/23 is gravel and 1,020 metres long. The Narrandera Leeton Australian Air League is based on site, and the Australian Airline Pilot Academy runs a satellite briefing centre there. The council discontinued its parallel taxiway project in December 2023 after tenders exceeded the budget.
