Rach Gia Airport guide

Rach Gia Airport sits in Vinh Lop ward, about 7 km south of the centre of Rach Gia, near National Highway 80. It serves the western Mekong Delta, including Rach Gia, Ha Tien, Chau Doc and Long Xuyen. The French began building the airfield in the 1950s, and it was completed in early 1960 as one of the country's civil aviation bases, though it was used mainly for military purposes at first.

The single runway, 08/26, is 1,500 m long and 30 m wide with an asphalt concrete surface. That length suits turboprops such as the ATR 72 but not narrow-body jets like the A320. The airport is a domestic field and has no international service.

Scheduled flights are operated under the Vietnam Airlines brand, with the main route running to Ho Chi Minh City; onward connections to Hanoi and other cities are made through Tan Son Nhat. The terminal is a two-storey building of about 2,500 square metres, designed for around 200 passengers per hour. Kien Giang provincial authorities have proposed extending the runway and expanding the terminal, with the work targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2027. The airport is operated by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
