Noi Bai International Airport guide

Noi Bai International Airport serves Hanoi and northern Vietnam from Soc Son district, about 28 kilometres from the city centre, connected by the Nhat Tan Bridge across the Red River. It opened on 2 January 1978 and is Vietnam's second-busiest airport after Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, handling around 30 million passengers in 2024. The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) owns and operates the airport.

Vietnam Airlines uses Noi Bai as its main hub, and Vietravel Airlines is also based here; Bamboo Airways and VietJet Air run large domestic and regional operations from the field. Two runways handle traffic: an older 3,200-metre strip and a 3,800-metre runway added in 2006, built to accommodate wide-body aircraft on longer international routes.

The airport sits within Vietnam's northern industrial corridor, home to large electronics manufacturing plants that generate significant air cargo volumes alongside passenger traffic. A dedicated shuttle bus links the domestic and international terminals, which stand roughly a kilometre apart.
