Josefa Camejo International Airport guide

Josefa Camejo International Airport (ICAO SVJC) is the only commercial airport on the Paraguaná Peninsula in Falcón state, northwestern Venezuela. It sits in Los Taques municipality, near Las Piedras, and serves the nearby city of Punto Fijo. It is a public airport run by the national civil aviation institute INAC together with the Falcón state airports institute. The airport is named after Josefa Camejo, a heroine of the Venezuelan War of Independence.

The airport has one asphalt runway, 09/27, about 2,800 metres long, at an elevation of about 28 metres. Older sources put traffic at roughly 30,000 passengers a year, mostly on international flights, including charters to the Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba and Curaçao. Runway lighting was stolen several times in 2017, and INAC spent about US$200,000 to restore night operations.

International service resumed on 24 April 2018 with a flight from Aruba. A month later Aruba Airlines began a route to Oranjestad of about eight minutes, which Travel and Leisure called the shortest international flight in the world. Domestic flights connect the peninsula with Caracas. Airline schedules change often, so check with the carrier before you book.
