Norfolk International Airport Guide
Norfolk International Airport lies northeast of downtown Norfolk, serving the Hampton Roads region of coastal Virginia and northeast North Carolina. Opened in 1938, the airport handled about 4.86 million passengers in 2024, a third consecutive annual record, and 4.89 million in 2025, a fourth.
Seven airlines serve ORF: American Airlines, Breeze Airways, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines. Since January 2026 Breeze Airways has operated seasonal nonstop service to Cancún.
The main passenger terminal was built in 1974 and has two concourses: Concourse A, used by American, Breeze and Southwest, and Concourse B, used by Delta, Frontier and United. A separate arrivals terminal handles baggage claim and ground transportation. Runway 5/23 is the airport's single active runway; the shorter crosswind runway 14/32 closed in August 2025. The airport is in the middle of a major terminal renovation that includes new customs facilities and moving walkways.
Norfolk Airport Authority owns and operates the airport as a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
