Salt Lake City International Airport sits about 7 kilometres west of downtown Salt Lake City, in the Salt Lake Valley. It serves as the primary gateway to the Intermountain West and is one of Delta Air Lines' major hub airports, with Delta accounting for more than half of all passenger traffic.
The airport completed a $5.1 billion redevelopment program across four phases between 2020 and 2026, replacing aging facilities with a single modernised terminal and two linear concourses connected by underground tunnels. The new layout is designed for faster connections and handles both domestic and international traffic. International arrivals process through the ground level of the terminal.
In 2024 the airport set an all-time passenger record, driven by growth across both leisure and business travel to the region. Thirteen airlines serve the airport with more than 330 daily departures to around 100 nonstop destinations. Delta operates an extensive hub with connections throughout the US, while other carriers cover key routes to Mexico, Canada, and Europe.
