The airport is operated by the City of San Antonio through its Aviation Department. A consolidated rental car facility opened in January 2018 and connects to Terminal B via a sky bridge.

A major Terminal Development Program is underway, with construction of a new Terminal C expected to link the existing terminals and expand gate capacity. The project reflects steady growth in demand driven by San Antonio's expanding population and tourism sector.
