Killeen Regional Airport / Robert Gray Army Airfield Guide
Killeen Regional Airport sits inside Fort Hood in Bell County, Central Texas, about six nautical miles southwest of Killeen. The civilian terminal shares one runway and its taxiways with Robert Gray Army Airfield, an arrangement the City of Killeen leases from the Army.
The airport opened to commercial service in August 2004. It replaced Killeen Municipal Airport, which became the general aviation field Skylark Field. Congress barred civilian use of the airfield in 1987 and repealed the ban in 1998. A 50-year joint-use agreement and lease followed in 2000, and construction began that year.
Runway 15/33 measures 9,997 by 200 feet. Military flights make up most of the traffic: of 84,630 aircraft operations in the 12 months to April 2021, 87 percent were military and 12 percent scheduled commercial. American Airlines runs the airline service, with nonstop flights to Dallas/Fort Worth. United ended its Killeen flights in January 2022.
