Austin-Bergstrom International Airport sits 8 km southeast of downtown Austin, Texas. Opened in 1999 on the former Bergstrom Air Force Base, it replaced the city's original Robert Mueller Municipal Airport and has grown into the 27th-busiest airport in the United States by passenger traffic.

In 2025, the airport handled approximately 21.7 million passengers. Southwest Airlines accounts for over 40 percent of traffic, with Delta, American, and United also operating significant schedules. International service includes routes to the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. The South Terminal, which had served Allegiant and Frontier since 2017, closed permanently on March 31, 2026, consolidating all operations into the Barbara Jordan Terminal.

The airport is undergoing its largest expansion in history under the Journey With AUS program. A new Concourse B with 26 initial gates is under construction, connected to the existing terminal by an underground tunnel. A temporary six-gate Concourse M bridges the capacity gap during construction. The airport features eight live music stages reflecting Austin's identity as a music city.
