Florence Regional Airport Guide
Florence Regional Airport sits about three miles east of downtown Florence in Florence County, South Carolina, on a site of roughly 1,436 acres. Local leaders bought the first 300 acres in 1928, and the first flight landed on December 26, 1929. The airport joined the U.S. Postal Service airmail network in 1931. During World War II the War Department added about 1,400 acres and used the field as an Army Air Corps training base. Eastern Airlines served Florence from 1948 to 1965.
The Pee Dee Regional Airport Authority runs the airport, which serves Florence, Dillon and Marion counties. Two asphalt runways handle traffic: runway 1/19 measures 6,000 by 150 feet and runway 9/27 measures 6,502 by 150 feet. Charlotte is the only scheduled destination, reached on American Eagle regional jets. Scheduled flights fell from three a day to two at the start of 2026, using 50-seat aircraft.
Passenger numbers have dropped sharply from the more than 163,000 recorded in 2010. About 46,100 people passed through the terminal in 2025. Aircraft operations run to about 65 a day, which includes general aviation and based aircraft. Short-term and long-term parking lots sit close to the terminal.
