Charleston International Airport sits in North Charleston, South Carolina, and is the busiest airport in the state. It shares its field with Joint Base Charleston under a joint-use agreement, and the combined site covers 2,060 acres.

The airport began as a privately owned field that opened on 10 August 1929. The city of Charleston bought part of the property in 1931 and ran it until the Army Air Corps took control in 1942. The current terminal opened in 1985 and a redevelopment completed in 2016 added five gates. Boeing also assembles 787 Dreamliners on the airport grounds.

Passenger numbers have grown steadily. The airport handled 6,341,145 passengers in 2025, up from 4,871,062 in 2019. Breeze Airways has a focus city here, and Delta, American, United, Southwest and JetBlue are among the carriers serving it. Air Canada Express has flown nonstop to Toronto since March 2024. Concourse C, now under construction, will add gates connected to the federal inspection station for international arrivals, and a six-level parking garage with more than 7,200 spaces is being built beside it. Concourse A has eight gates and Concourse B has ten gates and the international arrivals facility.
