Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport sits in Warwick, about 10 miles south of downtown Providence. It was dedicated on 27 September 1931 as Hillsgrove State Airport and was the first state-owned airport in the United States. The airport covers 1,111 acres and has two runways: Runway 5/23 at 8,700 feet (2,652 metres) and Runway 16/34 at 6,081 feet. The Rhode Island Airport Corporation operates the airport on behalf of the State of Rhode Island.
The Bruce Sundlun Terminal is a single terminal with two concourses and 22 gates: the North Concourse has 14 gates and the South Concourse has 8. Departures and security screening are on the upper level, and arrivals and baggage claim are on the lower level. Southwest Airlines carries the largest share of passengers, about 30% in 2025, followed by Breeze Airways, which bases aircraft at PVD and carried about 16.5%. The airport offers more than two dozen nonstop destinations.
T. F. Green Airport station connects the terminal to the MBTA Commuter Rail, about 15 minutes from Providence and about 85 minutes from Boston's South Station. A $64 million renovation of the terminal building is planned to update its walls, ceilings, seating and lighting.
