Portland International Airport Guide
Portland International Airport (PDX) is the primary commercial airport for Portland, Oregon, and is owned and operated by the Port of Portland. It sits about 19 km by road northeast of downtown Portland, and the MAX Red Line light rail connects the terminal directly to the city. The airport opened in 1940 and has three active runways.
PDX has one passenger terminal with four concourses, B, C, D and E, offering 60 gates in total. The main terminal expansion opened in August 2024 as part of the PDXNext program, which was scheduled to finish in mid-2026. The rebuilt terminal is designed for up to 35 million passengers a year. International flights are handled in Concourse D, in the section named for former Oregon governor Victor G. Atiyeh.
Alaska Airlines is the hub carrier at PDX. American, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest and United also fly here. Nonstop international service includes Amsterdam, London Heathrow and, seasonally, Frankfurt and Reykjavik, along with Canadian and Mexican destinations. The airport handled about 17.5 million passengers in 2024.
