OKC Will Rogers World Airport Guide
OKC Will Rogers International Airport sits 10 kilometres southwest of downtown Oklahoma City, serving a metro area of over 1.3 million people. Named after the Oklahoma-born entertainer Will Rogers, who died in a 1935 Alaska plane crash, the airport traces its origins to 1911 when it opened as Oklahoma City Municipal Airfield. The airport received its current name in August 2024, replacing the long-standing "Will Rogers World Airport" designation.
The facility recorded 4.6 million passengers in 2024, a record that surpassed 2023 figures by over 200,000 travellers. Southwest Airlines dominates with roughly 48% market share and anchors the Central Concourse. The single three-level terminal connects three concourses — West, Central, and East — covering 17 departure gates. The East Concourse, completed in 2021, is dedicated to Delta Air Lines operations.
Four runways serve the airport, with the two primary parallels extending to 9,800 feet — sufficient for wide-body jets. OKC also operates as a FedEx Express hub. The airport serves over 150 nonstop departures daily to destinations including Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago.
