John Glenn Columbus International Airport Guide
John Glenn Columbus International Airport sits about 10 km east of downtown Columbus, Ohio. It opened in 1929 as Port Columbus and was renamed in 2016 to honor astronaut and U.S. senator John Glenn. The airport is managed by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, which also operates Rickenbacker International Airport and Bolton Field.
The airport handled about 9 million passengers in 2025 and offers more than 50 nonstop destinations. Ten airlines operate from a single terminal with three concourses, A, B and C, each with its own TSA security checkpoint. The concourses are not connected airside, so passengers must clear security again when changing between them.
A new terminal, CMH Next, broke ground in December 2024. The $2 billion project includes 36 gates, two of them international with customs facilities, and is expected to open in early 2029. It is designed to handle up to 13 million passengers a year.
