Harry Reid International Airport Guide
Harry Reid International Airport sits in the unincorporated community of Paradise, roughly 8 km south of downtown Las Vegas. Originally opened in 1948 as McCarran Field, it was renamed in 2021 to honor former U.S. Senator Harry Reid. The airport covers 2,800 acres and is owned and operated by Clark County Department of Aviation.
In 2024 the airport handled 58.4 million passengers — a new annual record — making it the 8th busiest airport in the United States. It operates four runways and two main passenger terminals connected by an automated people mover system. Nevada gaming laws permit slot machines in the terminals, making Las Vegas one of only two U.S. airports with this distinction.
More than 30 airlines serve LAS, with Southwest Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta, and United among the largest carriers by seat capacity. The airport is a primary operating base for Southwest and Allegiant, reflecting Las Vegas's role as one of the country's top leisure travel destinations.
