Atlantic City International Airport Guide
Atlantic City International Airport sits in Atlantic County, New Jersey, mostly within Egg Harbor Township, with parts in Galloway and Hamilton townships. The terminal is about 14 km northwest of central Atlantic City. It also serves southern New Jersey, Philadelphia's eastern suburbs and Delaware.
The site began as Naval Air Station Atlantic City in 1942 and went civilian in 1958. The Federal Aviation Administration owns most of the land and leases it to the South Jersey Transportation Authority, which owns the terminal building. The FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center shares the field.
Two runways serve the airport. Runway 13/31 is 10,001 ft long and takes large jets. Runway 4/22 is 6,145 ft. A single terminal with ten gates handles all passenger flights.
Traffic is mostly leisure travel to Florida and other southern destinations on low-cost carriers. Passenger numbers peaked near 1.04 million in 2024 and fell to about 845,000 in 2025 after Spirit Airlines, formerly the largest carrier here, closed its operation in 2026.
