Falls International Airport Guide
Falls International Airport, also called Einarson Field, is a city and county airport just south of the Canadian border at International Falls, Minnesota. It began as a grass airstrip south of Highway 11. After World War II the City of International Falls established the airport formally, and two paved runways were built in 1946. A terminal followed in 1948, scheduled service started in 1953, and Koochiching County became a partner in 1962. The airport took its current name in 2011 and honours the Einarson family, which has run the fixed base operation since 1948.
Delta Connection flies daily to Minneapolis-Saint Paul, supported by the Essential Air Service program. UPS also flies cargo from the field. The FAA counted about 38,850 aircraft operations in 2018, many of them general aviation. The terminal is open around the clock, every day of the year.
Runway 13/31 is 7,400 feet long after a 2006 extension and has instrument landing systems at both ends. Runway 4/22 is 2,999 feet long and closes in winter. A new terminal of about 25,000 square feet was built in two phases, with the first finished in October 2017.
