Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport sits in Kenner, Louisiana, about 18 km west of downtown New Orleans. Commercial service began in 1946 under the name Moisant Field, and the airport took its present name in 2001 in honour of the jazz musician Louis Armstrong. It handled about 13.2 million passengers in 2024 and has two runways, 11/29 at 10,104 feet and 02/20 at 7,001 feet.
The single North Terminal opened in November 2019 and has three concourses, A, B and C, with 35 gates in total. Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines and Breeze Airways operate the largest services. The airport's airline page also lists Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, British Airways, Caesars Rewards Air, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue and Sun Country Airlines.
The New Orleans Aviation Board manages the airport, which is owned by the City of New Orleans. International service includes Air Canada to Canada and British Airways nonstop to London Heathrow, which resumed in March 2017. The airport's website states it has been named Best Airport in North America for five consecutive years.
