Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (ICAO KBTR) is also known as Ryan Field. It sits about four miles north of downtown Baton Rouge on 1,250 acres in East Baton Rouge Parish, at an elevation of 70 feet. The airport's address is 9430 Jackie Cochran Drive.

The field began in 1940 as Harding Field, a U.S. Army Air Forces maintenance and supply base where pilots trained on P-47 Thunderbolts. Little of the military installation remains beyond the runways. East Baton Rouge Parish and the City of Baton Rouge own the airport, and the Baton Rouge Airport Authority operates it.

The FAA classes BTR as a small-hub airport, and it is the second-busiest in Louisiana by passenger volume. It handled 844,025 passengers in 2024, a record year. Two runways are active: 4L/22R at 7,500 by 150 feet and 13/31 at 7,005 by 150 feet. The shorter runway 4R/22L, 3,799 by 75 feet, is permanently closed. American Eagle, Delta and United Express fly to hub airports in Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Washington, Atlanta and Houston. The Louisiana State Police Air Support Unit also bases its aircraft here.
