Alexandria International Airport (ICAO KAEX) is a public and military airport in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. It lies about 4 nautical miles west of downtown Alexandria. The site began as an emergency airstrip in 1939 and became England Air Force Base in 1955, named for Lt. Col. John Brooke England. After the base closed, the England Economic and Industrial Development District converted it to civilian use, and it opened to the public as Alexandria International Airport in August 1993.

Two grooved runways serve the field: 14/32 at 9,352 feet and 18/36 at 7,001 feet. The long main runway lets the airport handle large military and charter aircraft as well as airline jets. The James L. Meyer Terminal was dedicated in 2011. Scheduled service links the airport to Delta, American and United hubs at Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.

The airport also hosts an air traffic control tower, fixed-base operator services and the England AFB Heritage Park, which displays historic military aircraft.
