Liberal Mid-America Regional Airport Guide
Liberal Mid-America Regional Airport sits about two miles west of Liberal, in Seward County, Kansas. The City of Liberal owns it. It serves the southwest Kansas plains and the nearby Oklahoma and Texas panhandles.
SkyWest Airlines flies United Express service to Denver with 50-seat CRJ-200 jets, about 12 round trips a week. The route is subsidized through the federal Essential Air Service program, which the city renewed for a three-year term in 2024. Denver is the only scheduled passenger destination.
The airport has two concrete runways. Runway 17/35 is 7,105 feet long and runway 4/22 is 5,000 feet. The site began as Liberal Army Airfield during World War II. It later became Liberal Municipal Airport and today houses the Mid-America Air Museum. General aviation and air ambulance flights account for much of the traffic, with about 42,600 aircraft operations recorded in 2022.
