Fort Wayne International Airport sits about eight miles southwest of downtown Fort Wayne, in Allen County, northeastern Indiana. The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority owns and operates it, along with Smith Field Airport. The site began as Baer Army Air Base in 1941 and took its current name in 1991.

Three runways serve the field. The longest, Runway 5/23, measures 11,981 feet, long enough for heavy cargo and military aircraft. Runway 14/32 is 8,002 feet and Runway 9/27 is 4,001 feet. The airport shares the field with an Indiana Air National Guard base, and it once hosted a large air cargo hub.
