McCall Municipal Airport Guide
McCall Municipal Airport is a public-use general aviation field owned by the City of McCall in the mountains of west-central Idaho. It sits at 1,531 m above sea level, with the north end of its runway about 1.6 km south of Payette Lake.
The airport has a single asphalt runway, 16/34, measuring 1,862 m by 23 m, with RNAV approaches to both ends. The FAA recorded 43,600 aircraft operations in 2015. A count for the 12 months ending August 2010 averaged 119 operations a day, 84 percent general aviation and 16 percent air taxi, with 94 aircraft based at the field, mostly single-engine.
The U.S. Forest Service runs the McCall smokejumper base here, one of seven in the country. McCall Aviation has been the airport's only fixed-base operator since 1976, and it runs the only on-site car rental in McCall. Gem Air has offered service to Boise.
The airport has no control tower. Travellers without their own aircraft usually reach McCall by road from Boise, about 160 km south by Highway 55, roughly an hour and 45 minutes.
