Port Lions Airport guide

Port Lions Airport serves the village of Port Lions on the northeast coast of Kodiak Island, Alaska. The state-owned, public-use field sits about 2 nautical miles northeast of the village centre. No road links Port Lions to the city of Kodiak, so the airstrip carries much of the community's passenger traffic, mail and freight.

The airport has one gravel runway, 7/25, measuring 2,200 by 75 feet. It has no control tower. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities owns it.

Island Air Service runs scheduled air taxi flights from the field to Kodiak and Ouzinkie. The FAA recorded 2,257 boardings in 2010, down from 2,666 in 2009. In the 12 months ending December 2006 the airport logged 5,300 aircraft operations, about 14 a day. Roughly 91 percent were air taxi flights and 9 percent general aviation. Its codes are ORI (IATA), PORI (ICAO) and ORI (FAA).
