Ketchikan International Airport (ICAO PAKT) sits on Gravina Island, across the Tongass Narrows from Ketchikan, about one nautical mile west of the city's central business district. Ketchikan has no road link to the outside world or to the airport. Passengers cross on a ferry that takes about seven minutes, with two departures an hour in each direction.

The airport opened in August 1973. Before that, scheduled flights used seaplanes or the former military airfield at Annette Island, about 20 air miles south. The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities owns it. Runway 11/29 is grooved asphalt, 7,500 by 150 feet. A water runway for seaplanes measures 9,500 by 1,500 feet.

Alaska Airlines flies to Juneau, Seattle/Tacoma, Sitka and Wrangell. Island Air Express serves Klawock. Float-plane operators including Taquan Air, Misty Fjords Air and Pacific Airways run charters and sightseeing flights. The FAA counted 148,645 passenger boardings in 2023 and 14,394 aircraft operations.
