Akhiok Airport guide

Akhiok Airport serves the village of Akhiok on the southern coast of Kodiak Island, Alaska. The public-use gravel airstrip lies about one nautical mile southwest of the village. Akhiok has no road link to Kodiak or the other island communities, so the airstrip is the main route for passengers, mail and freight.

The airport has one gravel runway, 4/22, measuring 3,120 by 50 feet. Field elevation is 44 feet above sea level. The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Central Region, owns the field. It has no control tower, and pilots use the common traffic frequency 122.8. The FAA does not monitor runway conditions, so pilots are advised to inspect the surface before landing.

Scheduled air taxi flights connect Akhiok with Kodiak and Old Harbor. About 1,150 passengers used the airport in 2015. Servant Air carried roughly 74 percent of them and Island Air Service the remaining 26 percent. Its codes are AKK (IATA), PAKH (ICAO) and AKK (FAA).
