Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport guide

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is Taiwan's main international gateway and the home hub of China Airlines, EVA Air and Starlux Airlines. It sits in Dayuan District, Taoyuan City, about 40 km west of central Taipei, and opened in 1979 as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport. It took its present name in 2006.

The airport handled about 47.8 million passengers and 262,200 aircraft movements in 2025. Two parallel runways, 3,660 m and 3,800 m long, run northeast to southwest. A large share of traffic is regional, with dense service to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, mainland China and Southeast Asia, alongside long-haul flights to North America, Europe and Australia.

The Taoyuan Airport MRT links both terminals to Taipei Main Station in about 38 minutes, and the Taoyuan station of Taiwan High Speed Rail is roughly 8 km away. A third terminal is being built to add capacity of 45 million passengers a year. Its North Concourse, extending from the Terminal 2 building, began full operations on 25 December 2025, with the main structure and South Concourse due by 2027.
