Dalaman Airport sits on Turkey's southwestern coast in Muğla Province, about 6 km south of the town of Dalaman. It opened as an aerodrome in 1981 and was upgraded to full international airport status in 1989. The General Directorate of State Airports (DHMİ) owns the site, and YDA Airport Investment and Management operates it under a build-operate-transfer concession.

An older domestic terminal sits alongside a newer international terminal that opened in 2018, designed by architect Emre Arolat with 12 boarding gates, eight of them served by covered airbridges. In 2025 the airport handled roughly 5.6 million passengers across about 50,000 aircraft movements, a total weighted heavily toward the northern-summer leisure season.

Dalaman functions as the main air gateway to the Turquoise Coast resort towns of Fethiye, Marmaris, Dalyan and Göcek. European charter and low-cost carriers dominate the schedule alongside Turkish Airlines and Pegasus, which also connect the airport to Istanbul for domestic transfers. Traffic falls sharply outside the May-to-October holiday season, when only a handful of daily flights operate.
