Kars Airport guide

Kars Harakani Airport (ICAO LTCF) serves the city of Kars in the far northeast of Türkiye, close to the Armenian border. It lies about 6 kilometres from the city centre on the high Kars plateau, at an elevation of roughly 1,795 metres above sea level. That height and the cold winters shape operations here.

The State Airports Authority (DHMİ) runs the airport, which opened in 1988. It has one concrete runway, 06/24, which is 3,500 metres long. The passenger terminal covers 1,695 square metres and has parking for about 100 cars. Design capacity is 3.5 million passengers a year, well above the 605,172 it handled in 2025.

Traffic is almost entirely domestic. Only 302 of the 2025 passengers flew on international services. Turkish Airlines, AJet and Pegasus link Kars with Istanbul and Ankara, SunExpress flies to Izmir, and Azerbaijan Airlines serves Baku. The airport is the usual gateway for visitors to the ruins of Ani and to the Sarıkamış ski resort.
