Hakkari Yüksekova Airport guide

Hakkari Yüksekova Airport serves Yüksekova, a town in the far southeast of Turkey close to the Iranian border. The airport sits about 5 km from the town centre at an elevation of roughly 1,950 m, among the highest commercial airports in the country.

Construction began in July 2010 at a cost of 120 million Turkish lira, and the airport opened to civil traffic on 26 May 2015. It is named after Saladin, the Muslim leader of Kurdish origin. The single concrete runway, 11/29, is 3,200 m long and 45 m wide, long enough for large aircraft. The apron measures 228 m by 120 m, and the terminal building covers 6,600 m². The facility was designed to handle 1 million passengers a year.

Scheduled service is limited to domestic flights. AJet flies to Ankara and Turkish Airlines flies to Istanbul. Traffic reached 172,307 passengers and 3,381 aircraft movements in 2025, with the previous peak of 190,666 passengers in 2018.
