Ağrı Airport guide

Ağrı Ahmed-i Hani Airport serves Ağrı province in eastern Turkey. It lies about 9 kilometres from Ağrı city centre on the Ağrı-Van highway and is operated by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).

The airport opened on 8 January 1998 as Ağrı Airport. It closed temporarily in 2009 so the runway and apron could be widened and upgraded. Work finished in 2011 and left a single 3,000 by 45 metre runway and an apron that takes five aircraft instead of two. A new terminal building was completed in 2015, and the airport was renamed after the 17th-century poet and philosopher Ahmed-i Hani. Terminal capacity rose from 120,000 to 3 million passengers a year.

Traffic is almost all domestic. Turkish Airlines flies to Istanbul, AJet to Ankara and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, and Pegasus to İzmir. In 2025 the airport handled 396,411 passengers and 2,602 aircraft movements. The terminal has a buffet, restaurant and cafes, ATMs, baggage storage, car rental counters, a prayer room and a baby care room. Access to the city is by municipal bus, shuttle service or taxi, and the drive takes about 15 minutes.
