Mary International Airport guide

Mary International Airport lies about 6 km northeast of the centre of Mary, the capital of Mary Province in southeastern Turkmenistan. Its ICAO code is UTAM. The airport carries the local name Mary halkara howa menzili and is run by the Turkmenhowayollary agency.

In March 2009 the airport opened a new two-storey terminal of about 3,500 square metres, built for roughly US$5 million, and its status was raised from provincial to international. Wikipedia describes it as the third-largest international airport in the country. The terminal offers currency exchange, baggage offices, an information bureau, cafeterias and airline cash desks, and it can handle about 300 passengers per hour.

Two parallel concrete runways are published in the Turkmenistan AIP, 18L/36R at 2,820 m and 18R/36L at 3,800 m. Turkmenistan Airlines flies passenger services to Ashgabat, Balkanabat and Daşoguz. It also operates cargo flights to Ashgabat, Daşoguz and Bangkok.
