Balkanabat International Airport guide

Balkanabat International Airport sits near the settlement of Jebel in the Balkan Region of western Turkmenistan, about 20 km northwest of the city of Balkanabat. It lies roughly 4 km from the Mollagara mud resort and close to the highway and rail line to Turkmenbashi. The airport is also known locally as Jebel International Airport.

The opening ceremony took place on 2 May 2025, and passenger flights began on 19 May 2025. The airport replaced the older Balkanabat Airport as the main airport for the region. Construction started in 2021 on a 275-hectare site, with part of the funding coming from a loan from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

The single asphalt runway, 16/34, is 3,200 m long. The apron has space for six aircraft and four helicopters. The complex also has a 35 m control tower, rescue and firefighting buildings and a 20-bed pilots' hotel. Turkmenistan Airlines flies domestic services to Ashgabat, Turkmenabat, Mary, Dashoguz and Kerki. Belavia flew a seasonal route from Minsk between 20 May and 9 August 2025.
