Narathiwat Airport guide

Narathiwat Airport (ICAO: VTSC) serves Narathiwat province in the far south of Thailand, close to the Malaysian border. It sits in Khok Khian subdistrict of Mueang Narathiwat district, about 13 km south-east of the provincial town. The Royal Thai Navy owns the airfield and the Department of Airports runs it.

The airport opened in 1974, at the same time as the nearby Thaksin Rajaniwet Palace. Besides local residents and the military, it serves members of the royal family when they visit the region. Seasonal charter flights to Medina once gave it an international role, but scheduled traffic is now domestic only.

The single asphalt runway, 02/20, is 2,500 m long. That length lets it take aircraft up to an Airbus A300-600, although the current schedule uses narrow-body jets. Thai AirAsia flies to both Bangkok airports, Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi. The airport handled about 202,000 passengers and 1,522 aircraft movements in 2025, up roughly 10 and 18 percent on the year before.

The airport has eight car parks holding about 350 vehicles. Overnight parking needs free registration with ID at the desk in front of the terminal. The nearest other airports are Kota Bharu in Malaysia, 72 km away, and Betong, 104 km away.
