Halmstad Airport guide

Halmstad Airport (ICAO ESMT) is a regional airport in Halland County on the Swedish west coast. It markets itself as Halmstad City Airport and lies about three kilometres from the city centre. It shares the field with the Swedish Air Force's Halland Wing (F 14), so military movements, roughly 800 to 1,300 a year, use the same airfield as the airline flights.

The airport opened in 1957, and scheduled flights to Stockholm began in 1958. Halmstads Rådhus AB, the municipal holding company, owns it, and Halmstads Flygplats AB has run it since 1 January 2006. It has two runways: an asphalt runway 01/19 about 2,268 metres long and a 609-metre grass runway 06/24.

The airport handled about 104,600 passengers in 2024, up from roughly 83,800 in 2023 but still below the 124,400 recorded in 2019. Nearly all traffic is domestic, with scheduled flights to Stockholm operated under the SAS brand and seasonal international services.
