Jönköping Airport guide

Jönköping Airport sits about 8 km from the city centre, close to the E4 motorway. It opened on 3 September 1961 under the name Axamo Airport. The City of Jönköping has owned it since December 2009, and Jönköping Airport AB runs it.

There have been no scheduled passenger flights since 2020. Traffic now consists of charter, private, business and flying-club flights, plus nightly cargo flights to Belgium, Denmark, Finland and Germany. Charter operators have flown to Cyprus, Mallorca and Rhodes, and ski charters have gone to St Anton, Ischgl, Obergurgl and Sölden.

The main runway, 01/19, is asphalt and 2,203 m long. A second, 600 m grass runway serves light aircraft. Passenger numbers peaked at 113,916 in 2017 and stood at 21,854 in 2023. Drop-off is just outside the terminal building, and the car parks are under two minutes' walk from it. Travellers can also reach the airport by bus, taxi, train connection or rental car.
