Abha International Airport sits between the cities of Abha and Khamis Mushait in the Asir Province of southwestern Saudi Arabia, at an elevation of 2,090 metres above sea level. Opened in 1977, it serves as the primary air gateway to the Asir region and handles both domestic and international traffic through a single terminal. The airport is located roughly 17 km from Abha city center, accessible via King Fahd Road.

The airport transitioned from regional to international status in 2020 and recorded over 4.3 million passengers in 2019. It connects Abha to domestic hubs including Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, as well as international destinations in Egypt, Qatar, and the UAE. Saudia, Flynas, and Flyadeal are the primary carriers. The airport has consistently ranked among the top Saudi airports for on-time performance in GACA assessments.

A major expansion is underway under a 30-year build-transfer-operate concession managed by MATARAT. Phase one will increase the terminal footprint from 10,500 to 69,400 square metres and raise annual capacity from 1.5 million to 13 million passengers, with completion targeted for 2028.
