Kigali International Airport Guide
Kigali International Airport sits in the Kanombe sector at the eastern edge of the capital, about 5 km by road from the city centre. Elevation of 1,491 metres makes it one of the highest international airports in Africa. The airport has one 3,500-metre runway and operates around the clock, handling both regional and intercontinental traffic.
RwandAir, the national flag carrier, is the hub carrier. Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, EgyptAir and SalamAir also serve the airport, which acts as a gateway between East Africa and the wider world.
A replacement facility, Kigali Bugesera International Airport, is under construction in Bugesera District, approximately 40 km south of the capital, and is expected to expand Rwanda's air capacity once operational.
